Observations:

This week we had Wednesday out of school so we only had two days of field experience. Friday was field day for my students and it was really fun to watch them just have fun especially with the water games. My CT had a conversation with the students before they went outside about good sportsmanship. Then, when we all went outside for field day and I really loved how the kids were encouraging each other even when their team didn’t win. It was nice to see really good sportsmanship in the children.

Learning Experiences:

This past week I learned that we as adults (or almost adults) can learn from children. We can learn from their compassion and love. We can learn from their forgiveness and kindness. We can learn from their hugs and random dance parties. Even though they don’t know it, they are the ones that really know how to live and we can learn from that. I have learned that I should never take any moment for granted and that I should enjoy my time with my friends but also enjoy learning. A lot of my kids have never said anything negative about school to me and that really warms my heart that they truly enjoy learning.

Reflections:

This past week has gone by really fast. I’m not sure if it’s because graduation is right around the corner or if it’s because we had Wednesday off but it went by very quickly. I am so glad that we get an extra week with our classes, being out for a month really made me sad because I missed my kids so much. I’m teaching a lesson on Tuesday and I’m actually really excited about it. The kids have been doing really good when I have been asking them to do certain activities or when I teach mini lessons so I am excited about my big lesson.

Stories to Share:

During field day, my kids wanted me to get involved in all of the activities that they were taking part in. The teachers were getting involved too so I decided to jump in with them. I played some basketball and danced and ran with a sponge full of water. It really was a lot of fun even doing some of the simplest things. Then some of my kids came up to me with a giant cup filled with water. I quickly backed up knowing they were up to something suspicious. As I started backing away one of them said “Don’t worry Miss Collum, we just wanna pour this water on you!” I started laughing a running away from them and they chased me. I would have let them do it but I did have to be back at school soon and I didn’t want to be soaked all day. It was just a lot of fun.
